Rooted exists as a sacred pause — a retreat into stillness, nature, and self-connection. We create soul-nourishing experiences that invite you to return to what has always been yours: your breath, your body, your wholeness.

The Experience

Our retreats blend ancient yogic practices with the serenity of natural landscapes to guide seekers inward — gently, intentionally, and with deep reverence for their unique journey. Mornings began with sunrise yoga sessions facing the misty mountains, followed by mindful breathing, tea rituals, and nourishing plant-based meals made with local ingredients.

Afternoons were reserved for guided meditations, group reflections, and workshops that explored emotional release, grounding, and reconnecting with the inner self. Each evening closed with soulful conversations around a bonfire, sound healing sessions, or simply quiet time under the stars.

The Location — Birdsong Home, Mirik

A hidden gem in the Himalayan hills, Birdsong Home is a boutique stay nestled in the lush orange orchards and forest of Mirik, Darjeeling. Wrapped in clouds and guided by birdsong, this is where you’ll listen deeply — to yourself. Every corner of this home whispers peace — from the wooden balconies overlooking the valley to the cozy reading corners filled with soft morning light.

Yoga, Meditation & Inner Work

The yoga practices focused on balance — between strength and surrender, between stillness and movement. Our lead instructor guided us through slow Vinyasa and Hatha sequences, followed by deep yin sessions to release tension stored in the body. Breathwork (Pranayama) sessions helped participants connect with their inner rhythm, calm the nervous system, and find clarity within.

Guided meditations offered a safe space to let go of stress and reconnect with gratitude. Many participants shared how they felt an emotional shift — a lightness — after these sessions. Yoga wasn’t just on the mat; it extended into every moment of the day.

Mindful Eating & Local Cuisine

Every meal was designed to be a mindful experience — freshly cooked vegetarian food, served with intention and love. Local farmers provided the ingredients, and the meals reflected the simplicity and purity of the Himalayan region. Participants shared meals together in silence for the first few minutes, savoring each bite, a practice that brought everyone closer to mindfulness.

Exploring Nature

In between yoga and reflection sessions, we took gentle hikes through the nearby forest trails, visited the local tea gardens, and meditated beside the serene Mirik Lake. Nature walks became meditative journeys in themselves, teaching us presence through sound — the rustle of leaves, the call of birds, and the hum of wind.

Reflections & Takeaways

As the retreat ended, each participant shared their reflections — stories of inner healing, self-awareness, and renewed energy. The biggest realization for many was how stillness can be a teacher, and how returning to oneself doesn’t require distance — just awareness.
